Here are more works from David Humphrey's show, these paintings seem more about looking, with the subject looking just past us or elsewhere in the picture frame. You can project meaning upon this, or recognize it as a traditional compositional strategy in painting like Masaccio's Expulsion from the Garden of Eden. I took a lot of details, I was pretty excited about the the economy of form in the work. He's doing a lot, making big images with very little detail, the paintings are quivering on the edge of dissolution.
