Eduardo Sarmiento's works on paper have been brought together by Curator Anne Gilroy for the Thomas Center Galleries in Gainesville, FL. Sarmiento, a Cuban-American artist, has developed an intimate examination of his world through portraits, self portraits and narrative works in pastels color pencils and graphite on paper. These works belie the photographic documentation and warrant careful examination. I'm especially enamored of the surrealist pencil drawings and the instability of the relationships between the characters. It's definitely a show worth spending some time with.
