Day One: August, the proverbial dog days of summer, is a good time to look back on the past year. Today begins a five post series reviewing the top blog posts (via web traffic) this year.
Do Ho Suh's exhibition at Lehmann Maupin Rubbing/Loving Project was a splayed open rubbing of the interior of Suh's old NY Apartment. The rubbings were executed on a 1:1 scale so the gallery was filled with the faint blue colored pencil prints of the walls, floor, toilette seats, light switch's, sinks and windows. I was thinking about Roxy Paines Checkpoint at Marianne Boesky and how different these artists Work. Paines project was an amazing technological feat but Suh's resonates, its a more intimate and loving examination of a place.
