This series of Alex Katz cut-outs was at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. I was reminded of it in Chelsea this past week when I saw another show of cutouts. The flatness of Katz's pop style paintings is emphasized in the cutouts mounted directly on the wall. I'll post a different approach to this idea tomorrow.
